"Raw! Raw! cut."

Libby and I had a craving for no-bake cookies last night, so I hopped on the computer and got hold of a recipe and then proceeded to change it beyond recognition. Here's the result!

Healthy no-bake cookies

3/4 C agave or honey
1/2 C unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 C raw coconut oil, liquified over low heat
1/2 C almond butter
2 C oats
3/4 C brewer's yeast flakes (nutritional yeast)
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt

Mix all ingredients well and drop by rounded tablespoons onto a cookie sheet. Transfer to the refrigerator to harden for a few whiles. Move cookies to an airtight container and enjoy at will:)

Why on earth does Elise insist on putting brewer's yeast in these cookies? Well, because it is really good for you! It is very rich in B vitamins, chromium and fiber. Chromium is especially important in my family, because we all seem to have pancreas problems, and chromium is really good for your pancreas. It is also safer to eat chromium-rich foods to supply your deficiency than to take it in supplement form because you can overdo it. One word of warning, it is possible to eat too much brewer's yeast and it can make you sick, so just be careful.

(I do hope all readers of this blog caught the title and where it originated from:)

PS-I am a health nut.

A loose canon

Our family is big(and I do mean BIG)into classical music. While Pachelbel's canon is not our favorite, due to huge over-playing for weddings, we have thoroughly enjoyed the following rendition by the excellent Los Angeles Guitar Quartet.

Someone in our household found this video a few days ago, and we have listened to it 3 times so far:) I think you will like it too...

I counted 6 different music styles in this video. Does anyone hear more than that?

A new 'do

Good morning!

Occasionally I will take some extra time to play with my hair. Today was one of those times:D

I decided to try a hairstyle I've been thinking about, from the old black-and-white movie, A Damsel in Distress. Joan Fontaine wears a crown of braids similar to mine, but hers are actually rope braids. I was not prepared to master the rope braid for this, so I just did regular braids.

It was really quite easy! First, I had to part my hair in the middle, which was rather traumatic:) I haven't done it for probably 10 years. After that, I did 2 little quifs and bobby-pinned them in place, then braided and pinned the braids in place.

Here's my inspiration:

Have a lovely day!

39 years

Yesterday was my parent's 39th wedding anniversary. I am so grateful God chose them for each other and chose them to be my parents! They are my examples and the people I most want to emulate on this earth.

As unto the bow the cord is,
So unto the man is woman:
Though she bends him, she obeys him;
Though she draws him, yet she follows;
Useless each without the other.

-Henry Wadworth Longfellow-

I praise God for the heritage of my parent's faithful marriage!

Hello Hello Hello!

Welcome to Elise's new blog! I'm really excited to be starting this finally, after many hints and nudges from certain parties (naming no names-aka KK) :D

This song is the inspiration for my blog name (but not the inspiration for my newest hairstyle).

More coming soon!
